BELIEFS
What Reform Judaism Believes
By Rabbi Bill S. Tepper
Informed Choice
Reform Judaism affirms that each person can make informed choices about Jewish practice, grounded in study of tradition rather than obligation alone.
Ethical Monotheism
At its heart is a commitment to one God and to ethical living, expressed as tikkun olam, the repair of the world, as a central religious duty.
An Evolving Tradition
Reform holds that Judaism has always changed and continues to. Egalitarianism, inclusion of LGBTQ+ Jews, and welcoming interfaith families flow from this conviction that tradition speaks to every generation anew.
